Reconstructive Surgery aims to repair and rebuild, restore through surgical techniques, the shape and function of the affected area, abnormal structures and external parts of the body that, due to congenital, developmental or growth causes or as a consequence of scars, trauma, burns, tumors or surgical interventions, they are deformed or have been partially or totally lost.
It is the part of Plastic Surgery in charge of repairing or restoring the lost shape of any body part due to any cause such as trauma, accident, burns, congenital defect and surgery secondary to tumor removal.
Reconstructive surgery has different subspecialties or branches, among which are hand surgery, microsurgery, burn surgery, and Craniofacial surgery as the most important.
This important branch of Plastic Surgery is the most extensive and most practiced in hospitals.
Differences between cosmetic surgery and reconstructive surgery
The plastic surgery and reconstructive or reconstructive surgery are parts of plastic surgery. Cosmetic surgery is performed to improve the normal structures of the body with the intention of increasing or improving the attractiveness of the patient and thus raising their self-esteem and only those plastic surgeons are officially endorsed for cosmetic surgery.

- In burns from direct fire, scalding, electricity, chemicals, from freezing.
