The Neck is one of the places that makes us see the age of a person. In a large number of patients, it is the first part of the face to show aging changes. The skin begins to present wrinkles, sagging, bands begin to form on the front and side of the neck . It may or may not be associated with the formation of a double chin due to the accumulation of fat in the lower part of the jaw or submandibular region.

Neck lift procedure
The neck lift is generally performed on an outpatient basis, although it may require an overnight stay in the hospital. Treatment varies from person to person as the goal is to reverse the signs of neck aging in that person. It may require a submental lipectomy, neck liposuction, platysma band repair, and finally skin tightening.
The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia only, although most patients prefer local anesthesia and sedation, or under general anesthesia. The incisions are located in the lower part of the ear, surrounding them and in some patients an incision under the chin for the treatment of the double chin and platysma bands. When the anterior bands of the platysma are repaired because they are sagging, the procedure is called a platysmaplasty.
After the surgery is finished, a bandage is placed that is removed after 24 hours and then the patient must use a face mask to permanently support the skin of the neck for at least a week. It can only be removed for bathing and grooming. Some swelling or edema will occur, there may be bruising, and the skin will feel temporarily numb.
Recovery from surgery or disability is at least one week, after which time the patient can return to her usual work except physical exercise, which is limited to 3 or 4 weeks.
This procedure gives very pleasant results for patients and is a procedure with a very low incidence of complications.
